Sometimes when on vacation it rains or is just too hot for the beach but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to do. In fact, there are so many things to do I don’t think I could list them all but I am going to give a brief overview of what to do when you just don’t feel like going to the beach while on vacation in Old Orchard Beach.

The first thing most people think of when wondering what to do is the movies which there is one right in Saco called Cinemagic on Rt. 1. There is also a Drive-In at Aquaboggin Water Park also on Rt. 1
There’s always time for a drink on a rainy day too. Some places worth mentioning that have happy hour, wine tasting and live music are Grill 65, Apreo, Birdies, Sunset Bar & Grill, & Beach Vibes Bistro.

Another great thing to do in the area is visit a local brewery. There are a ton in the area such as Nonesuch Brewing in Scarborough, Lone Pine Brewery which happens to be right in Old Orchard Beach less than ten minutes from the Alouette Beach Resort, Brickyard Hollow and Banded Brewing are both in Biddeford.
Indoor Mini Golf and bowling are other things to do around town. Jungle Adventure 3D Mini-Golf is right downtown Old Orchard Beach. Big 20 Bowling Center is a bowling alley in Scarborough.
While you are downtown why not get some candy too. Dickinson’s has been around for as long as I can remember. It has all sorts of things nostalgic, back in the day candy! Len Libby in Scarborough is also a spectacular candy store that also has a chocolate moose!
Nothing wrong with lounging in your room at the Alouette and playing games either. My favorites are a card game called Rummy 500 & Monopoly, especially my Red Sox 2007 version.
Also, you could enjoy just one of many amenities we have which is our indoor pool heated at 80 degrees.
Harmon Museum It’s always nice to find out what type of history lives in the area too. It’s only open in the summer so be sure to check it out! Biddeford Mills Museum is also another place that is worth the visit, because they usually have tours of yesteryear.
Libby Memorial Library is a great place to visit with the kids for they always have something to do. The Children’s Museum in Portland is an excellent way to have fun with your kids for they have all sorts of hands on experience.
A wonderful way to spend the day is doing a spa day. A few in the area are C. Rose Wellness, East Coast Traveling Spa, and Salt Works & Spa.
So, as you can see there are plenty of things to do if you don’t feel like beaching it or if it’s raining. Our Events page also brings you a wealth of information on what is going on daily in the area such as live comedy or theater at Biddeford City Theater. Be sure to let us know if you find other places too, for sometimes new places pop up! And of course, don’t forget to book with us at the Alouette Beach Resort!
