Oceanview? Oceanfront? Which one to Choose?

This month I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted to highlight the differences of types of views we offer at the Alouette Beach Resort.

When booking a reservation for your vacation it can get a little confusing trying to figure out what all the lingo means. There are terms thrown around like oceanside, oceanview, oceanfront, or partial shore view and I am here to clear all the air! You can pretty much assume as well, that these terms are used by other oceanfront properties around the world. But for now, I will specifically let you know what our words mean.

Oceanside means on the same side as the beach furthest being about 35 yards from the beach.  This means there are no major roads to cross. It does mean they are on very small side streets that lead right onto the beach. Our oceanside properties have cottages, houses, motel rooms, apartments and suites. What is unique about our Alouette property is every building on the side street is ours so it feels very much like your own resort!

The Beach Walk Oceanfront Inn is also oceanside and on a little side street. On the left side there are apartments, houses, and our Wind Song building. Our Wind Song building sits on the ocean and has different types of views. We own everything on the left-hand side and on the right, we own one building that has a handful of economy rooms.

Oceanview is probably the toughest to explain because the assumption is you will see the ocean without any obstructions. Oceanview rooms are views with typically some obstruction be it wires, a parking lot below you, other buildings, rooftops or just further back from the entrance to the beach. This is where it can get tricky because there is also the term partial ocean view where there would be an obstruction of some kind but you can see the shoreline and, on most nights, hear the waves.

A majority of our rooms has some sort of view or partial view. We list our rooms by how far away they are from the beach entrance. Some rooms with ocean view are 5-10 yards all the way up to about 35 yards but still on the same side of the beach.

The easiest to explain is our oceanfront rooms which, we have about 15 of them! Namely the Sunrise Suites at the Alouette & the Wind Song building at the Beach Walk Oceanfront Inn. This means these are nothing but a view of the ocean right in front of your room. You can look east and look west and there is nothing but ocean and beach in front of you. There are no pools in front just your deck/patio, a small patch of flat dunes and the beach.

I understand I am biased but these properties have some of the best views of the beach.  I have lived further down the beach and was amazed how different the beach was. When I say I am biased it is because this part of the beach where the Alouette Beach Resort is located is one of the more flatter beaches out of the whole seven miles of Old Orchard Beach. When you vacation here you can expect to hear the waves and smell the sea air. Carrying your goodies to the beach is a heartbeat away, and your bathroom is close enough! It’s just perfect. Hopefully, this helps in choosing what room with a view you desire at the Alouette Beach Resort and visit us real soon!
