March 26th will mark the 40th annual Maine Maple Sunday.
Every year many Mainers look forward to the fourth Sunday in March known as Maple Syrup Sunday. It’s an annual celebration of the coming of spring. Rain, shine or snow – the sweetness of this day attracts thousands to nearly 100 participating sugarhouses. Though it’s referred to as Maine Maple Sunday this popular event has led to many sugar houses being open Saturday and Sunday.
This weekend provides the opportunity for families to learn the process of tapping trees, creating the syrup, crafting candies and sampling delights of all thing’s maple. In addition, many farms offer games, activities, sugarbush tours, music, and so much more.
