SUMMARY:Sunny War
DESCRIPTION:When Sunny War (a.k.a. Sydney Ward) moved into her late father’s house in Chattanooga\, she thought the place was haunted. “I spent the winter seeing things and hearing things\,” she says. “The house is 100 years old\, and I was in there by myself. I could hear people walking around and talking\, but when I jumped out of bed with my machete\, there was nobody there. I assumed it was my dad\, and I started writing about the ghosts that I was living with.” One of those songs\, simply titled “Ghosts\,” anchors her latest album\, Armageddon in a Summer Dress. A kind of slithering blues\, driven by her spidery guitarwork and haunted by disembodied voices dopplering in and out as the song fades\, it’s a wise-yet-confused meditation on what it means to live with your memories of the dead and the lost. \nSunny’s house wasn’t haunted\, at least not the way she initially suspected. “Something broke and I had to fix it\, so I called the gas company even though I didn’t have the money. The guy discovered major gas leaks all over the house. I thought I was losing my mind\, but I was just hallucinating from the gas. After I got that fixed\, I never saw or heard another ghost.” That’s not to say they weren’t there\, just that she could no longer detect them and no longer had to sleep with a giant knife next to her bed. But Armageddon is rooted in the disorientation of those hallucinations. In songs that are deeply incisive and keenly imaginative\, Sunny ponders the act of crossing boundaries—between worlds\, between musical genres\, summoning the ghosts of the people she lost\, the people she once was\, and the people she was not allowed to be. “Just how to hang on to the ones we let go\,” she sings on “Ghosts.” “They’ll be down in the ground when you need them most and now somehow you believe in ghosts.” \nFollowing the release of her 2022 breakthrough\, Anarchist Gospel\, Sunny spent less and less time at her not-haunted house and more and more time on the road\, opening for Bonnie Raitt\, Mitski\, Iron & Wine\, and Sarah Shook & the Disarmers\, among others. When she was back in Chattanooga\, she did her best to stay busy\, lest she lapse back into the drinking that almost killed her. “If I’m home and not touring\, either I’m going to play music all day or I’m going to get drunk. It’s really one or the other. I’m just obsessively trying to work on something so that I’m making healthier decisions that day.” \nSunny spent long days recording elaborate demos\, chasing ideas and assembling whole songs from the ground up. Some were odd experiments\, a few turned into a long series of old-time guitar/banjo duets\, and others became the songs on Armageddon in a Summer Dress. She wrote primarily instrumental tracks and played everything herself—guitar of course\, but also bass\, drum loops\, keyboard\, and anything else she thought the track needed—all with the notion that she’d add lyrics later. “I want to be a producer\, so I try to make my own recordings as complete as possible\, trying to get to the point where I feel confident enough to start recording other people. So I get obsessed with my demos. They have to be done just right so I can move on to something new.” \nThe intense demo process allowed her to tinker with new textures\, and she found herself gravitating away from her trusty acoustic guitar for an electric. “Touring behind Anarchist Gospel made me want to make a bigger-sounding record and have a whole band rather than just playing solo acoustic or with a three piece. I wanted to try stuff out of my comfort zone and try to have more fun playing. I definitely wanted to make this album for a badass five-piece band.” \nSongs like the runaway “One Way Train” and the lowdown “No One Calls Me Baby” reveal an artist further refining Sunny’s vibrant mix of punk and roots. “To me it’s the same kind of music. If you’re into punk for the lyrics and the message\, there’s definitely a lot of old-time music that has that spirit. Folk used to be very anti-establishment. Pete Seeger\, union songs\, Woody Guthrie—that’s punk rock shit. It’s all about being an outsider.” In fact\, she may be the only artist who could host punk stalwarts John Doe from X and Steve Ignorant from Crass to sing alongside Valerie June and Tré Burt\, but to her credit\, Sunny disregards any genre boundaries that might separate them. “They’re all just beatniks. That’s what I’m calling people now. They’re all different\, but they’re just artists\, poets. They all have that aesthetic\, in their own way.” \nRecruiting Steve to sing on the anarcho-punk anthem “Walking Contradiction” was a full-circle moment for Sunny\, who counts Crass among her all-time favorite bands. She wrote the song especially for him: with its snaking blues melody\, ominous organ chords\, and Sunny’s guitar tagging the walls of city hall\, the song is a smart\, scowling depiction of late-capitalist America\, where even the best of us are compromised by a fundamentally evil system. Their voices suggest a wild chemistry between them\, possibly because Sunny’s been singing along with Steve for decades. “He’s my hero for life. When I started listening to Crass\, it changed everything about how I thought about everything. I dropped out of school because of them\, because I realized I needed to be playing gigs and writing songs.” \nWhat kind of person would Sunny be had she had never heard Crass? Or Robert Johnson? Or any of her heroes? Those mirror-universe Sunnys are just some of the ghosts that haunts Armageddon in a Summer Dress: all of those different selves who would have led different lives. Would she have turned out like the woman in “Lay Your Body Down\,” who misspends her life following rules and projecting her frustrations onto everyone around her? These songs tally up everything that’s lost as you grow up and grow old\, all of those small occurrences that turn out to be pivotal\, and then Sunny flips you the bird on closer “Debbie Downer” for thinking she’s being too dour—“a Negative Nancy\, an infinite frowner.” As dire as these songs may be\, they’re also righteous and therefore joyous in their exhortations to live on your own terms\, to fight injustice wherever you see it\, and to always reach for new ways to express yourself. \n“I’m still learning a lot about everything\,” Sunny confesses. “I’m trying to learn how to be comfortable playing shows\, and there’s still a lot I’m learning about guitar in general. I think I’ll be learning forever. Music is infinite. You can never stop having different combinations. You could never play everything that could be played on guitar\, and you can never say everything you need to say\, so you can just go on forever learning new things.” \n  \nWatch Sunny War play “If It Wasn’t Broken”\, “Got No Ride”\, “Love Became Pain” and “Shell” at the Tiny Desk

SUMMARY:Adam Ezra Group
DESCRIPTION:Welcome To Adam Ezra Group \n❖ He takes a month out of each year to visit the living rooms of his fans around the country…\n❖ His band and nonprofit organization RallySound host a free festival every\nsummer that raised $151\,000 for homeless veterans in 2024…\n❖ He live-streamed for 500 nights in a row during the pandemic…\n❖ They co-produced an album with 163 fans… \nIf you haven’t connected with Adam Ezra Group yet\, these are just a few examples to help you understand how this underground\, Americana songwriter and his bandmates seem to have popped out of nowhere\, establishing a connection with their fans unlike any other\, and are suddenly selling out theaters throughout the Northeast. \nAdam Ezra will joke with you that while the “nowhere” part might be accurate\, nothing has ever just “popped” for this folk musician\, activist. Without resources\, connections\, or any kind of clue how the music world works\, Ezra began playing shows over 20 years ago. When music venues wouldn’t hire him\, he played bars\, bookstores\, fields\, and parking lots\, often raising money for causes he cared about; a practice that grew into his nonprofit organization RallySound. \n“We’d play 5 hours a night\,” Adam reminisces\, “more often than not\, in danger of\noutnumbering the audiences we were playing for…” \nSo how did this band operating so far outside the traditional music world come to win New England Music Award’s “Americana Act of the Year” in 2023? What could have happened to inspire John Oates to call Adam and invite him to begin a songwriting friendship that would lead to John producing their latest release and co-write\, “Hold Each Other Now”? What happened to catch the attention of The Wallflowers\, who recently invited AEG to join them on their spring tour\, or SPIN Magazine who recently proclaimed\, “This Independent Underground Folk Band Is Blowing Up Without Selling Out”? \nIf you ask Adam\, he’ll tell you: \n“One person at a time\, over many years and thousands of shows\, decided to turn their heads to listen. One person at a time decided to share our music with folks they care about. That’s always been our story. It’s no fairytale\, but it sure makes me proud and humbled when I look out from the stage to watch theaters full of people singing along to our music.” \nThese days you’ll find Adam and his bandmates\, Corinna Smith (Fiddle)\, Poche Ponce (Bass)\, and Alex Martin (Percussion)\, constantly out on the road. If you look at their tour schedule now\, you can buy tickets to see them at festivals\, rock venues\, and theaters around the country\, but you will also see their tour continuously peppered with activism and grassroots events; a testament to an artist who will never forget where he came from\, and whose mission is about much more than music.

SUMMARY:Gorilla Finger Dub
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our second Reggae Night of 2025 with Gorilla Finger Dub! \nThe idea of Gorilla Finger Dub sparked in the mind of Eric Dudevoir (bass) when he heard Chris Boivin (lead vocals\, guitar) busking in the streets of downtown Portland\, Maine. \nThe idea started off as a weekly musical gathering of like-minded locals\, and once each band member emerged and settled into their roles\, the idea evolved into the band: Chris and Eric welcomed Samuel Belanger (drums\, vocals)\, Steve Martin (lead guitar)\, Robbie Cooper (keys)\, and Mike Rice (percussion) into the collective. \nAfter recording their debut album Cool It Down in 2011\, the band hit the northeast regional scene showcasing an original sound and style known as soul-rock reggae\, and pushing each performance to the edge with their live improvisations and jams. Naturally\, the second album was recorded live. Live on 4/20 released in 2020. \nEach year Gorilla Finger has honored their biggest inspiration\, Bob Marley\, with a tribute show on his birthday – an annual event that has grown fast over the last 8 years\, and has been enjoyed by thousands. Joining them each year on saxophone is Glen DaCosta of the original Bob Marley & The Wailers. \nGorilla Finger has shared the stage with many of their other inspirations; Steel Pulse\, The Wailers\, Ziggy Marley\, Inner Circle\, and Yellowman to name a few. \nCurrently the band is working on their third studio album\, which will no doubt expand on their signature soul-rock reggae sound.

SUMMARY:The Masterstroke Queen Experience
DESCRIPTION:We are The Masterstroke Queen Experience. We bring the amazing songs of Queen to life on the stage\, with a tip of the cap to the style\, bombast and essence of Queen’s live shows. \nLed on lead vocals by lifelong self professed “Queen Freak” Sean Slaughter (finalist in the 2011 Roger Taylor/ Brian May officially Queen sanctioned Queen Extravaganza Contest)\, the MQE is nine members strong of exceptionally experienced and talented musicians and performers. We formed in 2015 and are getting ready to celebrate our 10th year as a band. We know upwards of SIXTY-FIVE Queen songs! We aim to replicate the complex album arrangements and layers that Queen produced so spectacularly well\, while still having fun and doing some mash ups with live versions. \n“Sean Slaughter and his band of merry men and women burn it down! The high quality performers and performance take the crowd from 1973 to the early ’90’s as they cover the hits and deep tracks of the band who invented arena rock and spectacle. \nThe two and a half plus hour show never lets up. Slaughter keeps things moving by leading the charge and graciously stepping aside featuring his skilled colleagues and guest musicians\, who he clearly holds in high regard.  \nSlaughter is the consummate front man and band leader. He is the man for the job with vocal chops\, flair\, humility\, humor and again\, a deep admiration and respect for those who share the stage with him. \nThe Masterstroke Queen Experience\, in the spirit of Queen\, is a rock’n’roll rollercoaster ride\, rich in musical history and tons of fun!”  \n-Steve Peer\, writer “Steve’s Theme Park”

Known for performances that convey deep emotion\, Vega’s distinctive\, “clear\, unwavering voice” (Rolling Stone) has been described as “a cool\, dry sandpaper-brushed near-whisper” by The Washington Post\, with NPR Music noting that she “has been making vital\, inventive music” throughout the course of her decades-long career. \nBearing the stamp of a masterful storyteller who “observes the world with a clinically poetic eye” (The New York Times)\, Vega’s songs have tended to focus on city life\, ordinary people and real-world subjects. Notably succinct and understated\, her work is immediately recognizable—as utterly distinct and thoughtful as it was when her voice was first heard on the radio over 30 years ago. \n\n  \nVIP ADD-ON AVAILABLE!\nIn addition to standard admission tickets\, the following VIP Package is also available for sale while limited supplies last.\n\n**This option is available as an add-on to any ticket.  You will see it an an option in your shopping cart once you have carted your tickets.\nPackage inclusions:\n• Pre-show visit to Suzanne’s soundcheck\n• Pre-show Q&A with Suzanne\n• One autographed tour poster\n• One commemorative Suzanne Vega VIP laminate\n• One commemorative Suzanne Vega ticket\n• You will receive an email from VIP@OTLPresents.com 2-3 days prior to show with check-in/pickup instructions\n* Package details and timing subject to change.

SUMMARY:The Suitcase Junket
DESCRIPTION:Matt Lorenz’s vision\, manifest in The Suitcase Junket\, developed in the tension between the grand and the solitary. Grand in its imagery\, sound\, and staging. Solitary in its thrift and self-reliance. What instruments he requires\, Lorenz builds from scratch and salvage. What parts five players would perform\, he performs alone. The spectacle of his one-man set bears constant comparison to legends of showmanship\, brilliance\, madness\, and invention. \nWhile audiences are captivated by his solitary form and the show itself\, Lorenz\, who homesteads with rescue dogs and chickens in rural Western Massachusetts\, is most serious about the songs. He has been building a catalog\, writing a world into existence. Solitary on stage and on the road\, his mind is crowded with characters\, narratives\, voices\, imagery\, sounds as wide and varied as mountain throat singers and roadhouse juke boxes\, plus newsreels of the planet’s destruction and salvage. With this 2020 release\, The End is New\, Lorenz’s grand vision for the song overrides the how of it. \n“The things I value are under attack\,” Lorenz writes. “And writing songs and making art are the methods I have for responding. I have tried to use my observations and reflections of the world bent through my fun-house-mirror mind to show what I see; a planet stressed. … We can do better.” \nThe End is New was produced by trusted friend\, producer Steve Berlin of Los Lobos\, who produced The Suitcase Junket’s acclaimed 2018 release\, Mean Dog Trampoline. \n“Most of the time making records for a living is both fun and edifying\,” says Berlin “But every once and a while I get rewarded with a simply superlative experience\, and making The End Is New was certainly one of those.” He adds\, “We had a blast building these ideas into songs\, and Matt’s endless inventiveness made each workday a genuine pleasure. His talent is a unique gift.” \n“I told Steve I wanted to make a doom-folk record\,” says Lorenz. “That’s what I’d started calling my music when people asked. He was game. Neither of us knew quite what that meant at the time\, but I think we found out with The End is New. There’s a heavy mix of hope and desperation in the sound and lyrically I was trying to be a mirror to society using truth\, myth\, confessions and stories.” \nIn the strangest of ironies\, the production of this album\, an artist moving from solitude to collaboration\, went forward in a time when Lorenz\, Berlin\, all their studio musicians\, and the entire world were in isolation for the lockdown of pandemic. \n“We had done some tracking in February and felt that we had a good start\,” says Lorenz\, “but things had gotten a bit strange. Steve Berlin\, producer extraordinaire\, was stuck at home on the West Coast under a newly imposed lockdown and here in Massachusetts the virus was starting to heat up. The bicoastal\, remotely produced recording process was bizarre and frustrating but fruitful.  We plugged along\, track by track\, occasionally commenting on how crazy everything was feeling. Justin\, the sound engineer and co-owner of Sonelab\, and I had spent time together in the same studio so we figured if one of us had The Virus we probably both did so why not finish the record as safely as we could?  So we watched as the world drastically changed around our little musical haven\, unsure of what lay ahead.  We polished off the record bit by bit in the following months\, recording overdubs from home with no more studio time to be had. J Mascis made a ripping appearance on ‘Light a Candle’ and Steve Berlin slipped off his producer shoes and laid down some horn parts. I’m so very excited to share these new songs. I think the writing on this album is some of the best I’ve ever done and the production has them sounding huge and cinematic.” \nThe End is New is an artist expanding his possibilities\, collaborating\, matching his lyrical power over eleven tracks with the epic sounds and narratives of his imagination. “Black Holes and Overdoses” riffs off the unrelenting news cycle\, the numbness that wants for oblivion. “And Then There Was Fire” finds Lorenz reflecting on current events\, inspired by the destructive wildfire in Australia\, which seems like three years ago at this point\, but took place right at the end of last year and beginning of this year. “Light a Candle” is the simmering doom of lost love. “Can’t Look Away” protests the overuse of a planet.  “Jesus! King of the Dinosaurs” is a romp poking fun at extremists and biblical timelines. \nGrowing up in Cavendish\, Vermont\, Matt Lorenz began playing piano at age five\, and later took up violin\, saxophone\, and guitar. During his years at Hampshire College in Amherst\, Massachusetts\, he studied music and adaptive instrument design\, a pursuit that included building a prototype for a drummer who couldn’t use their legs\, where they’d be able to play the bass drum and hi-hat through a system of pulleys. After college\, he headed to Europe on a $150 plane ticket\, ran out of money in Barcelona\, and spent a year playing music in the streets. “That’s where I learned how to sing loud\, which got me figuring out what my voice could do\,” Lorenz notes. Once he’d returned to Amherst\, he formed the band Rusty Belle with his sister Kate and\, several years later\, started The Suitcase Junket with the aid of a guitar he’d found in a dumpster.  ‘The Suitcase Junket’ is a nod to Lorenz’s longtime love of collecting old suitcases\, including an antique that he’s refurbished into a bass drum\, and to a secondary definition of junket\, i.e. “a pleasure excursion.” \nThe End is New is Lorenz’s sixth full-length album as The Suitcase Junket\, his first for Renew Records/BMG.  The sound has become more refined and deeper with each release. Lorenz tours extensively and plans to be back on the road for a waylaid release tour for The End is New in 2021. Lorenz is also a visual artist. In the early years he designed all The Suitcase Junket album art and merchandise and made the music videos generated with his songs. He continues to create the visuals for merchandise\, and to produce some of his videos\, now with collaborators. He gets very excited about coffee\, gardening\, bees\, dogs\, birds\, mushrooms\, tinctures\, making his own wine and maple sugaring season.

SUMMARY:Carbon Leaf
DESCRIPTION:Carbon Leaf’s fifteenth studio album\, Time is the Playground is both a call to action and an embrace of the moment. Marrying nostalgic storytelling to nuanced\, folk-infused indie rock\, the Richmond\, Virginia band embroiders heartfelt melody and harmony with acoustic and electric instrumentation to create a 12-song rumination on time\, love and personal growth that’s equal parts urgent epiphany and contented exhalation. \n“Everybody says people don’t listen to albums anymore\,” mulled Carbon Leaf frontman Barry Privett\, holed up in a coastal cottage. “So\, the challenge for us was to make something that felt good to get through from beginning to end … to listen to like a story.” \nOriginally formed as a college cover band in 1992 and with over 3\,500 famously enthused live shows together\, Carbon Leaf helped to define the aughts indie rock that they ultimately outgrew and outlasted. They first earned national recognition with “The Boxer\,” a song that won the American Music Awards 2002 New Music Award and made Carbon Leaf the first unsigned band to perform before millions on the AMAs. \n“The Boxer” entered regular radio rotation\, Carbon Leaf’s tours grew bigger and better\, and within a couple of years they quit their day jobs and inked a record deal. The band’s fanbase snowballed\, drawn to their infectious spirit of commitment\, empathy\, communion\, and self-reliance – not to mention supremely crafted songs with ultra-relatable\, thought-provoking lyrics. \nAfter a trio of charting albums for Vanguard Records\, multiple songwriting awards and headlining shows\, Carbon Leaf opted to return to the complete creative control of their indie roots. Guitarist Terry Clark\, who co-founded the band with Privett and multi-instrumentalist Carter Gravatt\, converted his garage into the band’s Two-Car Studio\, where they’ve recorded releases for their own Constant Ivy imprint ever since. Carbon Leaf’s DIY spirit even extended to re-recording their three Vanguard albums in order to regain the rights. \nTime is the Playground is Carbon Leaf’s first full-length album in a decade\, during which they released two EPS and a 27-song live performance album and Blu-ray. Time is the Playground gathers the best of songs written\, in fits and starts\, over 15 years\, alongside brand new ideas. Privett dusted off old demos and shut himself away for months to finish their stories\, while also honing recent compositions. With Clark engineering\, Carbon Leaf – completed by longtime bassist Jon Markel and drummer Jesse Humphrey – spent a year and a half recording and mixing the resulting songs. \n“Thinking about these disparate pieces of music\, I began ruminating on time itself\,” Privett recalled. “The band’s been together a long time. You mature a bit and see yourself in place on the timeline … rolling around the scenes of love and growth.” \nMasterfully melding saturated AC/DC guitar and squelchy Cars synth\, “Backmask 1983” is a fun flipbook of evocative era emblems – Farah Fawcett\, “Satanic Panic\,” Time Life Books\, Bigfoot and more – that traverses the simultaneous nexus of Privett’s childhood/adolescence and the world’s analog/digital ages. It’s about morphing into a new person and a new planet with wide-eyed wonder and a longing to believe. “Without a whole lot of information\, the mystery of things felt so heightened\,” recalled Privett of growing up pre-Internet. “I wanted to capture some of that but also have fun with it.” \n“I want what we create to resonate with ourselves\, to the level that we want to play it for a long time to come\, and where we want others to hear it and experience it\,” Privett concluded. “Hopefully\, listeners can glean the pieces from it that they identify with.” \nTime is the Playground will be accompanied by the tireless touring almost synonymous with Carbon Leaf\, who’ve become a model for self-managing bands in the digital landscape. \n

SUMMARY:William Tyler
DESCRIPTION:No other solo American guitarist this century has impacted that fecund scene quite like William Tyler. After crucial stints in Silver Jews and Lambchop\, this adopted son of Nashville emerged at the dawn of the last decade with a string of inquisitive albums that paired the measure of his country rearing and classical enthusiasm with his ardor for postmodern experimentation\, field recordings and static drifts folded beneath exquisite melodies. Tyler dug Chet Atkins and Gavin Bryars\, electroacoustic abstraction and endless boogie. His productive little enclave of instrumental music has increasingly followed such catholic tastes\, not only ushering new sounds and textures into the form but also critical new voices and perspectives. \nAnd on the brilliant\, bracing\, and inexorably beautiful Time Indefinite\, Tyler’s first solo album in five years\, he steps at last into the widening gyre he helped create. The guitar serves as a starting point for an album that will make you reconsider not only Tyler but also the possibilities and reach of an entire field. A vortex of noise and harmony\, ghosts and dreams\, anguish and hope\, Time Indefinite is not a great guitar record. It is a stunning record—a masterpiece of our collectively anxious time\, really—by a great guitarist. \nIn early 2020\, as the world teetered at the edge of unrests still unimagined\, Tyler left Los Angeles for Nashville\, where he’d lived most of his life after his parents left Mississippi. Most of his gear (and\, for what it’s worth\, all of his records) stayed in California\, awaiting what he presumed would be a rather rapid return. It\, of course\, wasn’t. So as Tyler dealt with the depression\, nerves\, and questions of those endlessly tense times\, he began recording little ideas and themes with his phone and a cassette deck\, resigning himself to the distortion inherent in those devices. \nTyler was in early talks to make a record with Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden\, and some of these bits felt like test cases for what they might do together. As that collaboration crept in other directions (as heard on last year’s staggering “Darkness\, Darkness” single\, with more to come)\, Tyler magpied other sounds. He soon asked longtime friend and producer Jake Davis to help stitch them together and perhaps clean up those imperfections. (Eventually\, back in Los Angeles\, Alex Somers stepped in to provide the finishing touches.) Davis and Tyler opted to go the other way: embrace the hiss and wobble and\, in the end\, unintentionally make a record that reflected those times and these—uneasy\, damaged\, honest. \nFrom the start\, Tyler’s music has pulled from the past\, drawing old notions and conventions into the revealing light of now. In November 2020\, on a family trip to Jackson\, Miss.\, to clean out his late grandfather’s downtown office\, Tyler spotted an old tape machine\, still sealed among the flotsam. He took it back to Nashville\, back to Davis\, and they began using it to create tape loops that conjured the vertiginous feeling of that unknown moment. \nTime Indefinite begins with a sampled shard from that antique\, as harsh as Merzbow processing the sound of a washing machine. It is a lurid\, worrying signal flare: I am here\, and things are hard\, but I am trying. The piece unfurls like a haunted house still inhabited by real\, living people\, trying to make do when the world around them seems to be saying don’t. Not 10 minutes later\, at the start of “Concern\,” Tyler slips into a melody as gorgeous as anything he’s ever found\, strings and steel rising like the sun beneath his simple folk waltz. It is a hand on a shoulder\, a radiant bit of music that answers: I am here\, and things are hard\, but we are trying. \nThis seesaw of struggle and survival defines these 10 songs and 54 minutes\, a map of anguish and belief and the trails that link them. “Electric Lake” is an ecstatic drone that summons La Monte Young to this century\, but there is pain beneath its glow. “Howling” is an absolute wonder\, its gentle guitar lope and choir of echoing horns and keys recalling the glory days of Windham Hill. But the background actually does howl\, latent worry simply waiting to roar back to life. It doesn’t during the supple “Anima Hotel\,” but you know it won’t be long now\, because it never is—on this album as in real life. “This is a mental illness record\,” Tyler will tell you without shame\, as open in life and speech as he is on tape. “It’s music about losing your mind but not wanting to\, about trying to come back.” He doesn’t\, however\, need to tell you that; you can feel it\, probably even recognize it from your own experience. \nToo\, Tyler’s albums have been nests of non-musical references and influences\, as he has pivoted between spirituality and philosophy and summoned the landscapes and legends of the greater American imagination. Time Indefinite is no different\, especially in the way it conjures the deeply personal films of Ross McElwee. In the mid-’80s\, he began to make a movie about Sherman’s march through the South\, but it spiraled into a tangled history about family\, loss\, and what we do when our best instincts surrender to the worst things we can imagine. (The record is a nod to this idea\, of time’s relentless push and our place in\, beneath\, and beside it.) It is no great revelation that the lives we lead shape the work we make\, whether or not we intend that to be the case. In these songs\, you can hear Tyler\, like McElwee\, wrestle with incoming demons out loud—addiction\, middle age\, loneliness\, neurosis. All of our struggles are different\, but we are united at least in having them. Time Indefinite is the soundtrack that Tyler’s create. \nAs the ninth track\, “Held\,” begins\, you will likely hear it as the end\, the benediction at the close of all these goddamned chaotic blues. It certainly feels that way\, an abiding and immersive drift through sleeplessness and into another day that ends with an acoustic waltz\, pure William Tyler beauty. But it is never that simple\, is it? Time Indefinite instead concludes with “Ojai\,” a curious electronic comedown that never actually comes down or goes up. It\, instead\, hangs in the middle distance\, its sampled cuts playful synths\, sighing guitars\, and vanishing drones forming a question mark that never stops growing. Is it happy? Is it sad? It is neither. Instead\, it is a final signal flare: I am here\, and things are hard and wonderful\, and I am still here.

SUMMARY:The Furious Bongos
DESCRIPTION:We’re only in it for the money. \nHAHAHAHA \nOK\, OK…we’re just a bunch of professional musicians with pretty diverse backgrounds who decided to take on a pretty big challenge and have some fun in the process.  \nNow\, you might ask\, “Oh yeah? Professional musicians\, eh? What makes you think you can play Frank’s music as well as [insert Zappa family/band member here]?” \nWell\, maybe you haven’t heard of us individually\, but <sing> “we’re pretty good musicians” </sing> and you probably have heard of the folks on our resumes:  \nBB King\, Mick Fleetwood\, Barbara Streisand\, LA Philharmonic\, James Taylor\, Pinetop Perkins\, Arthur Barrow\, Munich Philharmonic\, Bryan Beller\, Popa Chubby\, Yo Yo Ma\, Andy Summers\, Madison Opera\, blah blah blah….you get the idea. \nAs for Frank’s music\, he was constantly changing things\, both for his own creative choices and to adapt to the different musicians he had over the years. He also understood that his live performances were entertainment: it’s supposed to be a rock show\, not a piano recital. \nWith all that in mind\, we don’t think playing Song X from Album Y note-for-note while staring at our shoes is the proper way to go about this. \nThe result of that approach (combined with a lot of homework) is a show that pays respect to Zappa’s legacy\, but is also new and different and dangerous and FUN\, with lots of eyebrows. \nKinda like Frank.

SUMMARY:The THE BAND Band
DESCRIPTION:From Woodstock to The Last Waltz\, The Band has been a central figure in some of rock and roll’s most iconic moments. Now\, over half a century after the release of their debut album Music From Big Pink\, the music they created has proven to be timeless. Their pioneering blend of country\, blues\, rock\, and folk music served as a template for what we now call Americana. Though they are long gone from the stage\, their sound and spirit live on in a group of musicians based in Rockland County\, NY – not far from Woodstock\, The Band’s musical and spiritual home. \nThe THE BAND Band  brings the music of The Band alive with soulful and authentic renditions of their iconic catalog\, performed with the passion and dedication for which The Band was renowned. Begun in 2007 as a labor of love for the music of The Band by co-founders Jack Kraft and Gary Solomon\, The THE BAND Band is the only nationally touring group dedicated exclusively to music of The Band\, bringing it to life with authentic\, true-to-form renditions of their extraordinary repertoire. From hit songs like “The Weight\,” “Up on Cripple Creek\,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down\,” and deep cuts from their classic albums\, to the historic collaborations with Bob Dylan\, The THE BAND Band delivers with the passion and commitment for which The Band was renowned. Experience the power and excitement of The Band’s legendary concerts\, as famously documented in the Martin Scorsese film\, The Last Waltz. has been touring for over 15 years\, bringing the sound\, spirit and energy of The Band to concert-goers across the country. \nOn Thanksgiving Day in 1976\, Solomon had the good fortune of being in the audience at The Last Waltz\, the farewell performance of The Band’s legendary 16-year career. The group\, who had originally come to worldwide attention as Bob Dylan’s backing band\, had gone on to record eight albums on their own that featured such classic songs as “The Weight\,” “Up on Cripple Creek\,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” \n“I knew that what I was seeing was not just another rock concert. It was a once in a lifetime moment” Solomon says of The Last Waltz\, which featured appearances by rock icons Bob Dylan\, Neil Young\, Eric Clapton\, and many others. It was also a moment that years later inspired him\, decades into his career as a professional musician\, to form his tribute band with a group of like-minded musicians. \nHaving been at The Last Waltz nearly a half a century ago\, and now performing the music of The Band with his tribute band\, things have come full circle for Solomon. There is a sense of passion and a personal mission in his desire to share a moment that changed his life. “The feeling I had at The Last Waltz was so incredible and unforgettable. I want to share that excitement and joy.”

DESCRIPTION:Loudon Wainwright III begins another year of his career in 2025 with the January release of the new album “Loudon Live in London” which was recorded during a 3-night residency at Nell’s Jazz and Blues club in 2024.  Then in February\, he is a special guest on the UK’s prestigious “Transatlantic Sessions” tour – the highly acclaimed concert series which for the last 30 years has explored and celebrated the rich musical traditions that connect Scotland\, Ireland and the U.S. \nBorn in Chapel Hill\, N.C. in 1946\, Loudon Wainwright III came to fame when “Dead Skunk” became a Top 20 hit in 1972.  He had studied acting at Carnegie-Mellon University but dropped out to partake in the Summer of Love in San Francisco and wrote his first song in 1968 (“Edgar\,” about a lobsterman in Rhode Island).  Loudon was signed to Atlantic Records by Nesuhi Ertegun\, and after that was lured by Clive Davis to Columbia Records\, which released “Dead Skunk.”  His songs have since been recorded by the likes of Bonnie Raitt\, Johnny Cash\, Earl Scruggs\, Kate & Anna McGarrigle\, his son Rufus Wainwright\, and Mose Allison among others. \nIn 2010 Wainwright and Dick Connette released the Grammy winning “High\, Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project.”  In 2010 “I’d Rather Lead A Band” came out to critical acclaim. That album features Loudon singing songs from the classic American Songbook. He’s backed by Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks\, a 12-piece jazz orchestra. \n“Lifetime Achievement” is his most recent studio album of original songs\, reinforcing his status as our foremost six-string tragicomedian.  Upon its release in 2022 he put it in context by saying “When I made my first record for Atlantic in 1969\, I wanted to make not only a recording\, but a document that captures a moment.  Now\, fifty years later\, I guess I still want to make a testament of songs\, and I like to think they might last a while.” \nIn 2023 Loudon and Dick Connette collaborated on “Monsters”\, a 10 minute film about Wainwright’s boyhood obsession with horror films of the 1930s and 1960s.  Prior to that\, he rode out the pandemic by producing a number of virtual shows\, including “The Special Relationship” (presented by the Royal Albert Hall) and “The Great Unknown\,” a musical tribute to his friend\, the late George Gerdes.  Also featured in that show were Richard Thompson\, Suzanne Vega\, Steve Forbert\, and the members of Spinal Tap. \nWainwright also created a one-man theatrical show\, “Surviving Twin\,” which combines his songs and the writings of his late father.  Initially developed as part of University of North Carolina’s Playmakers series\, it focuses on fatherhood – both being a father and having one – and also explores the issues of birth\, self-identity\, loss\, mortality\, fashion\, and of course\, pet ownership.  The show has been performed in limited theatre engagements and is available as a Netflix special\, produced by Judd Apatow and directed by Christopher Guest. \nHe has also co-written songs with Joe Henry for Judd Apatow’s hit movie “Knocked Up.” Other credits include his music for the British theatrical adaptation of the Carl Hiaasen novel “Lucky You\,” and his topical songs for NPR’s “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered” as well as ABC’s “Nightline.”  An accomplished actor\, he has appeared in films directed by Martin Scorsese\, Hal Ashby\, Christopher Guest\, Tim Burton\, Cameron Crowe\, and Judd Apatow.  Wainwright has also starred on TV in “M.A.S.H.” and “Undeclared\,” and on Broadway in “Pump Boys and Dinettes.”
