DESCRIPTION:The Phantom of the Opera at the Saco Drive-In\nWith an improvised symphonic score performed by James Kennerley\nDon’t Delay – parking is limited!\nOur annual Halloween silent film event is taking a quick detour before Halloween weekend in Merrill Auditorium. We’re pre-recording Portland Municipal Organist James Kennerley on the Merrill stage as he adds his flare and magnificent improvised symphonic score to this classic movie gem! This recording will be shown at the Saco Drive-In on Saturday night\, October 16th.\nJoin Municipal Organist James Kennerley as he brings life\, intrigue and\, most importantly\, brilliant musical accompaniment to The Phantom of the Opera\, a 1925 American silent horror film adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra\, directed by Rupert Julian and starring Lon Chaney in the title role of the deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House\, causing murder and mayhem in an attempt to make the woman he loves a star. This silent movie classic will be silent no more when Kennerley adds his magnificent playing to the film!\nThe Drive-In can accommodate a limited number of cars\, so don’t delay in reserving your seat. Tickets must be purchased in advance through PortTIX. They will not be available at the Drive-In gate. A window ticket\, required for entry\, will be emailed to all attendees in advance of the show! The Saco Drive-In Gates will open at 5:00pm. The movie will begin at 6:30pm. There will be no intermission. You are encouraged to bring your own movie snacks as no concessions will be available at the venue. Parking instructions\, along with your ticket\, will be shared prior to the show.\nLast year was our first Drive-In event\, and it was a huge hit and loved by all attendees! We cannot hold or reserve spots. We can’t guarantee you will be satisfied with your parking space. The drive-in was built over 80 years ago and did not have large vehicles in mind when originally designed. It is possible that a larger vehicle parked in front of you may partially block your view of the screen\, but we will do our best to accommodate everyone. There are no refunds for parking related issues
