Illumination Night is a collage of the activities and experiences that make up a summer in Ocean Park. Free admission! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n9:00 am-4:00 pm: Art Show and Sale by Saco Bay Artists on the Library Lawn.\n4:00 pm: Ocean Park Band Rehearsal at the Rec Hall.\n6:30 pm: Ocean Park Band Concert at the Bandstand. (Held in the Temple in the event of rain)\n6:30 pm: The Strawberry Shortcake Festival in front of Jakeman Hall. Bring your lawn chair and sit by the Bandstand while enjoying this traditional summer treat! Donation: $5.00.\n8:00 pm: The annual “walk about” from street to street and onto the beach. View lighted cottages\, experience the sights and sounds\, and chat with fellow strollers. Be sure to experience lighting your candle on the beach starting at the end of Sandpiper and please exit to the left on Weymouth Ave. Candles donated by the Youd Family.\n9:00 pm: The Dunlap Highland Band will be at the Bandstand. We welcome back this 20-member band of pipers and drummers who play to large and enthusiastic audiences every Illumination Night. Under the direction of Pipe Major George Pulkkinen and Drum Major Dan Bernardini\, the band has both adult and youth members. The performance begins after the light viewing.

DESCRIPTION:5K Friday July 28th 7:00 PM\, Kids Fun Run Saturday July 29th 10:00 AM \nMark your calendars\, recruit a running partner or challenge your family members in the greatest race in Ocean Park history. All updates will be posted on the OPA Webpage at www.oceanpark.org. This is one of the few evening races in the entire state\, always attracting top runners\, weekend athletes and those “Oshun Pahkahs” looking to beat their kids or just finish in order to add the prized T-Shirt to their collection. The Ocean Park 5K is a flat race\, winding through towering pines\, along the beach roads\, passing those familiar cottages and cheering fans\, with a straight shot back down Mass Ave and Randall before finishing in the town square. Post-Race Events will be held at the Bandstand in the OP Square. As we did previously\, we will continue to follow all Maine CDC Guidelines for outdoor group events \nThere will be nonmonetary prizes for the age bracket finishers as well. As in past years there will be cash prizes for those elites that can break the course records. \nThe first 200 registered runners will receive the incredibly cool\, one of a kind 2023 OP5K shirt. Shirts are always gone by Day of Event – so pre-register today! Pre-registration fee of $30: in person at the OPA Office\, via mail\, or online at www.runreg.com; go to www.oceanpark.org for details (preregistration closes Wednesday\, July 26 th at 3:00 pm). Day of race walk-in registration is $35. Kids Fun Run registration: $5 without t-shirt or $20 with t-shirt (1st come 1st served). We will be using The Temple again this year as the event hub (instead of the Rec Hall). This will be open Thursday July 27 th from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM for those pre-registered runners wanting to get their race bibs/T shirts early or those wanting to sign up for the Kids Fun Run. Race Day Registration and DOE Pre-Registered check-in is July 28 th from 4:00-6:30 PM at The Temple. Checks must be payable to the Ocean Park Association\, no credit cards . All proceeds from the event support the OPA. \nKids Fun Run will be held the following morning July 29th at 10:00 AM – Start and finish line is on Colby Ave\, immediately behind the Temple. Medals for all and prizes for the top boy and girls in two different age brackets. \nDue to the popularity of the T-Shirts\, we will be once again offering “Sponsor” space on the back/sleeve of the shirts to list your family\, business or a personal message. Early sponsors will also be listed on the Race Flyers and other event posters. If your family or business would like to become an event Sponsor\, please contact the race director for details. \nA wide range of volunteers are always needed to support this event. This is one of the few evening races in the entire state\, always attracting top runners\, weekend athletes and those “Oshun Pahkahs” looking to beat their kids or just finish in order to add the prized T-Shirt to their collection. The Ocean Park 5K is a flat race\, winding through towering pines\, along the beach roads\, passing those familiar cottages and cheering fans\, with a straight shot back down Mass Ave and Randall before finishing in the town square. Post-Race Events will be held at the Bandstand in the OP Square. As we did previously\, we will continue to follow all Maine CDC Guidelines for outdoor group events \nThere will be nonmonetary prizes for the age bracket finishers as well. As in past years there will be cash prizes for those elites that can break the course records. \nThe first 200 registered runners will receive the incredibly cool\, one of a kind 2023 OP5K shirt. Shirts are always gone by Day of Event – so pre-register today! Pre-registration fee of $30: in person at the OPA Office\, via mail\, or online at www.runreg.com; go to www.oceanpark.org for details (preregistration closes Wednesday\, July 26 th at 3:00 pm). Day of race walk-in registration is $35. Kids Fun Run registration: $5 without t-shirt or $20 with t-shirt (1st come 1st served). We will be using The Temple again this year as the event hub (instead of the Rec Hall). This will be open Thursday July 27 th from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM for those pre-registered runners wanting to get their race bibs/T shirts early or those wanting to sign up for the Kids Fun Run. Race Day Registration and DOE Pre-Registered check-in is July 28 th from 4:00-6:30 PM at The Temple. Checks must be payable to the Ocean Park Association\, no credit cards . All proceeds from the event support the OPA. \nKids Fun Run will be held the following morning July 29th at 10:00 AM – Start and finish line is on Colby Ave\, immediately behind the Temple. Medals for all and prizes for the top boy and girls in two different age brackets. \nDue to the popularity of the T-Shirts\, we will be once again offering “Sponsor” space on the back/sleeve of the shirts to list your family\, business or a personal message. Early sponsors will also be listed on the Race Flyers and other event posters. DESCRIPTION:Music Festival at the Bandstand in Ocean Park\, 11 Temple Ave\, Old Orchard Beach (moved to the Temple if rain). \nChris Humphrey is a singer\, a pianist\, a composer\, an arranger\, a lyricist\, and\, within the Seacoast jazz community\, is considered a local treasure. Best known as a jazz vocalist\, Chris’s primary focus is the use of the voice as an instrument. His skills as an improviser and interpreter of song have been showcased on a number of recordings\, early among them the album Almost Blue by the vocal group The Ritz\, of which he was a member. The album featured Chris’s singing\, composing\, and arranging talents. \nMore recently\, his album Nothing But Blue Sky (Cadence Jazz Records) was met with overwhelmingly positive critical response. Recorded with award-winning drummer Matt Wilson and Martin Wind (who comprise 2/3 of the Bill Mays trio) and Boston-based Mark Shilansky on piano\, Humphrey blended energetic fresh arrangements with originality and sincerity.

Like its forerunners in the heyday of the concert band era\, SWE performs classic marches and symphonic transcriptions. These are the adjectives most commonly used to describe the Singer/Guitarist from Texas\, whether they are talking about his voice\, or his guitar playing. Now a solo performer on the national stage\, Bat leaves quite an impression wherever he plays. Bennett worked in ensembles as a bassist\, keyboardist and lead vocalist. He played with ensembles in more than 50 countries and spent nearly 10 years performing for active duty troops and at U.S. military bases and embassies around the world. He soon decided to branch away from world travel and devote his time to performing solo. He returned to his original instrument\, the 12-string acoustic guitar\, with an intensity that was unstoppable. \nWith no set list\, his performances are based on improvisation\, fueled by requests from the audience. His wife and manager\, Brenda\, walks around and gathers all of the requests from audience members. His songwriting has been featured on TV shows like Pimp My Ride and has won grants from ASCAP two years in a row. His songwriting style focuses on melody\, vocal strength and guitar passages.
