SUMMARY:Fall Pies Workshop at Frith Farm
DESCRIPTION:About this event\n\n\nGet a jump start on holiday baking and learn the secrets of flakey pie dough. In this workshop\, you will… \n\nlearn the pastry technique of lamentation\nconsider the differences and uses for common pie debates: flour vs. cornstarch and butter vs. shortening\, water vs. alcohol\nexperiment with unusal addtions to classic pie favorites.\ntake home a slice of pie\, two prepared crusts\, and a recipes\n\nGenevieve Victoria Casale Johnson works with children and adults as a play facilitator\, and Frith Farm’s Events Coordinator. She values youth leadership\, intergenerational exchange\, and equitability. Her focus is on creating and advocating for nourishing play opportunities in outdoor spaces. These environments are intended to restore individual and collective relationships to the natural environment. She integrates artistic\, culinary\, ecological\, and social exploration. \n– \nAdmission is $45\, sliding scale is available. Please pay the amount you are able. \nAs a gesture of reparations for systemic inequities within the field of agriculture\, Frith Farm offers free admissions to all events and workshops for BIPOC attendees. \nIn addition to sliding scale donations\, work-trade options are available. The Frith Farm crew works 7am to 4pm Monday-Friday. We suggest 4 hours of work in exchange for the workshop. \nNotes on COVID-19 protocols: This event will be held in our commerical farm kitchen with a ventilation system. Space is limted to 6 participants. All participants must wear masks and observe social distancing for the duration of the workshop.

SUMMARY:November Children's Garden at Frith Farm
DESCRIPTION:oin us on Friday mornings in November from 9:30a-11:00a as we investigate the frosty fields\, fallen leaves\, and first snows on the farm. \nEach week children will learn about a different plant growing on the farm using all of their senses. The morning will include a story\, songs\, family yoga\, and hands-on activities to learn more about fruits\, vegetables\, flowers\, shrubs\, and trees. \nSession includes classes \n\nNovember 5th- plant & animal hibernation\nNovember 12th- teas\, tinctures\, and stocks\nNovember 19th- feasts for kids and creatures
